Overview
JobPilot AI keeps your job search in your browser. This page explains what stays on your device, what goes to the AI provider you choose, and the usage analytics we collect.
Data Collection
Your profile stays in your browser. What you enter in the extension is stored locally with Chrome's built-in storage API. We also collect usage analytics, described below, to see how JobPilot is used and to fix problems.
What Data is Stored Locally
The following information is stored in your browser (not on our servers):
- Profile information you enter (name, email, phone, etc.)
- Your AI provider API keys (OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini), if you use AI features
- CV/Resume files you upload
- Custom parameters you create
- Extension settings and preferences
Third-Party Services
If you turn on AI features, the extension talks directly to the AI provider you choose (OpenAI, Anthropic or Google) with your own API key. This includes:
- The text of questions from job application forms
- Your profile information (to generate personalized responses)
- Job descriptions (to tailor cover letters)
This data goes straight to that provider, not to us. Please review their privacy policies: OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.
If you sign in with Google and turn on sync, your profile is backed up to a private app folder in your own Google Drive.
Usage Analytics
JobPilot sends usage analytics to PostHog, an analytics service hosted in the United States. It helps us see which features are used and spot errors. Analytics include:
- A random ID created when you install JobPilot
- Your operating system, browser, screen size and extension version
- Events such as opening the extension, a job page being detected (with the site's domain), autofill, cover letter and chat actions, Jobs4U searches (including your search keywords) and errors (with the error message)
- If you sign in with Google: your account's email address, name and sign-in provider, linked to your analytics ID
JobPilot does not send your CV, the answers it fills in, your cover letters or your API keys to PostHog.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. Usage analytics are processed by PostHog for us. AI requests go to the provider you choose, with your own key. Drive sync, if you turn it on, stores your data in your own Google Drive.
Data Security
Your data is stored using Chrome's secure storage API. To protect your information:
- Use a strong password for your Google account
- Enable 2-factor authentication
- Keep your browser updated
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- View: Open the extension popup to see all stored data
- Edit: Modify any information at any time
- Delete: Clear all data by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data
- Export: Your data is accessible in Chrome's local storage
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date.
